Peter Campton

Peter Campton was admitted to the Bar in February 2000. He practised as a Solicitor from 1983, almost exclusively in family law disputes generated after the breakdown of marriage and defacto relationships in the Family Court of Australia and the various tiers of the State Courts of New South Wales. He achieved accreditation as a Family Law Specialist from the New South Wales Law Society prior to his admission to the Bar. He is a founding member of Waratah Chambers.

Mr Campton has developed a practice focusing on complex family law financial disputes. He has extensive experience in, and has developed a speciality for, avenues of forensic financial enquiry and the evaluation of expert evidence.

Mr Campton is a member of the New South Wales Bar Association’s Family Law Committee and a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.

Increasingly, Mr Campton has presented a number of seminars and papers to specialised members of the legal profession. He is a regular contributor at conferences and has published articles relating to Family Law.

He is regularly briefed to appear at country sittings of the Federal Magistrates Court within New South Wales and in trials listed in the Family Court Registries in the eastern states of Australia.

Mr Campton also acts as a Mediator. He is an Accredited Arbitrator and a member of the Australian Institute of Family Law Arbitrators and Mediators.

Mr Campton grew up and was educated in Western Sydney. He with his brothers represented the Parramatta “Two Blues” in First Grade Rugby over many years. He was appointed for an extended period as the Parramatta Rugby Union Football Club Captain. He continues to remain actively engaged in Rugby Union in New South Wales at a Senior Grade, Junior and school level throughout Sydney.
